We meet at Naples train station at 10:00 am. (There is a direct train from Rome). Your driver will greet you as you get off the train in Naples train station. Then, you’re off to adventure!  Your journey takes you along the Bay of Naples, offering stunning views, including Capri, in the distance, across the bay, and historic Mt. Vesuvius opposite shore, on land.  Continuing down the Sorrentine Peninsula, enjoying the unique landscape for which this road is known.  We will stop in Sorrento for lunch and exploring, and then on to the Bay of Salerno.  These breathtaking views culminate with a “wow” photo-op when we stop above the town of Positano.  You’ll no doubt recognize this iconic postcard view, which has been a backdrop for many a painting, movie, and TV show.  We’ll stop to enjoy the town of Positano, wander the narrow streets, do a bit of shopping, or enjoy some local gelato as a treat after your travels.

We’ll then make our way to our destination of Amalfi.  The historic town of Amalfi was, for centuries, an important trade bridge between the Byzantine and Western worlds.  Characterized by a virtual maze of narrow, winding streets and alleys, lined with unique shops, and cafes, Amalfi’s main square is centered around a magnificent Cathedral.  Climb the staircase to this house of worship and take a moment to admire the centuries old interior decor, mosaics and frescoes dating back to the 13th century.

Your driver will take you to your hotel, where you can unpack, freshen up, and relax a bit and enjoy your first evening in Amalfi.

Day 2:  Ravello, Tramonti wine region, Lemon cooking class

After breakfast we’ll travel to the town of Ravello.  The wealthy past of this beautiful city is evident in the opulent villas, churches, civic buildings and gardens.  Villa Cimbrone is a proud landmark in Ravello. We’ll tour the villa, enjoying unique and stunning views. Then you can explore the town on your own and have lunch in one of the many restaurants. After lunch, we make our way to the areas finest Limoncello maker, for a taste of this delicious lemony aperitif. Next, we will drive to the mountain area of Tramonti famous for it’s vineyards. We will visit a family owned winery, where we will learn, first hand, the ins and outs of their family business, and enjoy tasting their lovely product.  Then we will head back to Amalfi for an authentic and memorable experience at a family's farm. Lemon is one of the iconic symbols of the Amalfi coast but as you will discover looks and taste differently from the lemon we use at home.

Day 3: Buffalo Mozzarella farm,Lunch,  Paestum greek temples

Your driver will meet you at your hotel early in the morning, to take you to a dairy farm in Paestum, a region known for the finest Buffalo Mozzarella in the world.  Your visit to an organic cheese farm, a state of the art facility for cheese making, will include a tour, an opportunity to help with the milking, and, of course, a tasting of this delicious cheese.  Mozzarella will never taste the same after today’s experience. Next, we will have lunch at a family owned restaurant. Our next destination will surely be a discovery. Paestum was founded by the Greeks and is rich in history. Paestum is home to what remains of three exquisite temples, providing a glimpse into a civilization long ago. It stands out as the best-preserved Greek ruin on the peninsula and the best-preserved Doric temples in the world!

After exploring the site we will return to Amalfi for an evening at leisure.

Day 4:  La Famiglia Italiana Day-  Cultural Immersion at its Best

Awaken to the sea breeze and aroma of rich Italian coffee, and greet the day.  Today brings a one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience Italian coastal life, first hand.  Your local guide will arrive at 10:00 am, to whisk you away for your adventure. You’ll shop for the freshest of local and seasonal ingredients.  You may find yourself in a lively discussion with the local fishmonger, letting him advise you on the catch of the day.  Perhaps your shopping will include a trip to the shepherd’s home, the local market, and the bakery. You’ll gather your own fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs, right from your host’s garden!  Together you’ll prepare a sumptuous farm-to-table meal, which you’ll enjoy on the terrace, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.  An afternoon stroll down to a lookout point, where you’ll have a view of the coastline, will help you walk off your delicious meal.  You’ll be dropped off at your hotel for a free evening to explore the town of Amalfi.

Day 5: Excursion to the Isle of Capri

Today we’ll travel to the epic Isle of Capri. The rugged landscape stands in contrast to the luxurious lifestyle of Capri.  The isle seems awash in azure, much like the blue grotto, a dark cavern where the sea glows electric blue as the sunlight spills though, caressing the water in this underground cave.

Your party will head to the port of Amalfi to board the Hydrofoil (fast boat) that will transport you to the Isle of Capri.  On your journey you’ll be treated to awe-inspiring views of the coastline, seen only from the water.  Upon your arrival, your guide will accompany you to the towns of Capri and Anacapri.  You’ll explore the towns, enjoy people-watching from one of the many lovely cafes, and perhaps, take in the blue grotto, season permitting.

After a day of la Vita a Capri, you’ll take the hydrofoil back to Amalfi and enjoy your last evening in this priceless, timeless setting.

Pack your bags!

Day 6:  Pompeii, Pizza Napoletana in Naples

This morning we will drive back towards Naples to the ruins of Pompeii and have a guided tour of this famous archaeological site. After visiting Pompeii we will have a 'grand finale' to our adventure in the Amalfi coast: Pizza Napoletana. Ask any Italian where the best pizza in Italy comes from, and the answer will be the same: “Napoli.” This is where pizza was invented, and since the 19th century, the Neapolitans have raised it to a fine art.

After lunch your guide will transport you back to the train station in Naples, to board the train and make your way back home, where your memories will sustain you with La Dolce Vita, until the next time. (4:00 pm drop off at Naples train station)
